I have a MS office professional edition,. When i try to open an excel file it ran some installation and threw an error that SKU I bought a new Microsoft Office and a week ago installed and registered it on my computer which has Windows xp pro and all the updates.

Have you tried repairing your installation? Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Add or Remove Programs. Click the Office program that you want to repair, and then click Change. When the repair process is finished, run the update again. Most likely you will need to have your Office CD handy. Thanks for the input but I tried that early on and while trying to make the repairs I received the notice that it could not find the PRO MSI file.
I also tried to use my original install cd and havlf way through got the same message. I think it may be related to the security problem with Excel and actions taken by McAfee that has isolated the file and is causing the problem.
Just a hunch. If there is not another way to obtain this file on-line, I’ll contact a sys admin POC to see about getting it fixed. TaurArian said:.
