I like to think I’m somewhat tech savvy, so either I’m to advanced for the book or the opposite I’m just not smart enough.

While this covers the in’s and out’s of Access , it does not cover any substance of creating a database. It gives you the definitions and understanding of what it will take to work with the objects in Access but doesn’t go through setting up an actual database. Sure it will talk about designing a data base and that you need tables, relationships, etc.

It will tell you what these are and how to work with them but never tells you how to put it all together. Like if you have a many to many relationship how do you build a form to update the data in the three tables required to make this relationship. If you are looking for a reference guide to relate to once you know how to build a functioning database this would be okay.

If you are wanting to know how to build a database this is not the book for you. I think sticking nine books into one required them to trim to much of the information out of each book. I highly recommend this book or Kindle e-book in my case for anyone new to the database world. The majority of users of computers should have access to this dynamic technology even if it’s only during a limited-time trial period of MS Office.

They’re simply and in my experience dummy proof. Access For Dummies is no different. They take things slow and explain for these who may not even know a thing about databases.

The only down side is it doesn’t go very in depth – though no one should expect this from a ‘For Dummies’ book. But I covers the basics perfectly.

I taught myself Access and VBA already understand databases and programming fairly well. I bought this book to make sure there were no holes in my understanding and has a reference.

I’d recommend this book for anyone looking to learn Access and may not have a great understanding of databases design or Microsoft’s office programs. However, for someone trying to expand beyond that of moderate, look elsewhere. Still, a nice read. Very useful. Able to follow examples, able to use these methods to do the questions at end of chapter. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. It’s good for the beginner to set up a database from scratch, and also for those more experienced or used to the older versions to find out how to achieve the effect required.
